Name: Tibouchina Jules
Origin: Native to south-east Brazil. Jules was produced at Alstonville, NSW, by the late Ken Dunstan.
Description: A dwarf evergreen shrub, growing to about 1m high and 1-2m wide. It has small velvet green leaves, and purple flowers from March to May. It is ideal for small gardens, used as a border, or planted in tubs or containers.
Cultivation: Likes a sunny spot and a light friable soil with plenty of moisture during the growing season. Hard prune after flowering in late winter and tip prune during spring and summer to promote dense, bushy growth. Protect plants in frost prone areas.
